 | Computer uses WRT woodworking |
|
| How does your computer aid you in your woodworking hobby or biz? My common uses are to: * figure mathmatical equations with angles and such; * create designs and schematics of ideas using an illustration program (haven't really needed a CAD as of yet); * use the illustration app to make "precise" templates for blade and
miter gage angles. Draw an angle using hairline or .25pt line segments,
cutting out the printout on the lines with a razor and straight-edge and
use that to set the saw - sometimes helps to mount the paper to
chipboard/cardboard prior to cutting. * make paper lettering templates for scrollsaw Christmas ornaments
using scraps of hardwoods - actually works for any router or bandsaw
template as well; * create maker labels for woodworking gifts which I glue on and varnish
over. * attempt to keep up with the goings on around the world of wood on
websites, the wreck and email.

My main use of the computer as far as woodworking goes is to hook up to this
website. I also use Corel Draw and Corel Trace to make lifesize templates for bandsaw
work.
