 | Power tool shelf life |
|
| I have a collection of electrical power tools for woodworking that,
for one reason or another, I rarely use. They sit on shelves in an
unheated garage in North Carolina, which has mild winters and hot
summers. A couple of years ago I had need of a Craftsman sander/grinder that I
hadn't used in years and found it was dead. I tossed it. Tonight I dug
out my Craftsman reciprocating saw and found it dead too. Why would otherwise healthy electrical tools die sitting on a shelf?
The reciprocating saw in partcular had seen very little use, last time
about two years ago. Is it a Craftsman thing?
---------------------
I have both a router and circular saw, both Craftsman, both corded, both
27 years old. Both are rarely used, both still work perfectly. Mind
you, Dallas doesn't have the humidity that NC has, which may be the problem.
