I am looking for patterns, ideas, etc for antique woodworking hand tools. I
have interests in woodworking and metal working and would like to produce
replica hand tools. Any guidance would be appreciated.

-Check out "The Art of Fine Tools" by Sandor Nagyszalanczy (or however
you type it!) - true hand tool porn. -For wooden planes you'll want Whelan's book. It's in the shop at the
moment, but the title is something like "Making Traditional Wooden Planes".
I don't completely agree with some of the methods, but it's probably the
best book out there on the subject. He covers bench planes, plows,
fillisters, dados, and molding planes. Cecil Pierce's "Fifty Years as a Planemaker and User" walks through the
steps he used to make bench planes. His planes aren't really traditional
in that his smoothers have an enclosed tote and a screw cap rather than
a wedge. Lee Valley also sells a very cheap book (about $5) on making wooden bench
planes. Kingshott has a book on making tools. He focuses on infills made out of
either dovetailed mild steel or from castings. He also shows other tools
like marking gages and screwdrivers. FWW did an article a year or two ago on forging your own carving tools
from, I believe, drill rod. There are plenty more articles on toolmaking
in FWW: clamps, chair devils, planes, etc.
